A New CSA option at McDougal Orchards, Fruit Shares Plus, allows you to pair THE BEST eating apples with select cooking varities, cider, & more, if you choose.

What is Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)? We’re glad you asked! CSA brings together community members, farmers, and agricultural land in a relationship based on an annual commitment to one another. Here, at McDougal Orchards, CSA means that you (the consumer) pay us (the farmers) a share of the costs associated with growing this year’s crop prior to the growing season. In return, we share with you the best we have to offer: a continuous weekly supply of fresh, ripe fruit at the peak of flavor, from mid-August through early November.

This is our first attempt, so we’re keeping it simple by offering a couple of share options and add-ins this year. Some of the details: Share prices range from $98 for 14 weeks of US Fancy grade eating apples to $245 for the full boat (as Capt. Jack would describe it!) of eating apples, cooking apples, cider in season, and apple cider donuts. With the cooking apple option comes the recipe of the week, and if you sign up and pay buy May 1, we’ll store some apples for you until December 18th. There’s also an option to purchase a share for your neighbors in need, which we’ll deliver each Monday throught the season to the Sanford Food Pantry. A CSA e-Newsletter will remind you to pick up your share each week and offer exclusive coupons for other stuff at the farm. Don’t miss out…sign up now!

    For more information and sign-up forms, call 324-5054 or e-mail mcdorch@gwi.net .
